Beth Chen
TBeth Chen is a distinguished pianist, renowned for her virtuosic performances that fuse expressive depth with technical brilliance. A laureate of several prestigious competitions and scholarships, including first prizes at the National Concerto Competition (New Zealand) and the North Queensland Concerto Competition (Australia), Beth has established herself as one of New Zealand's notable pianists.
Her career has taken her to some of the world’s most esteemed stages, including the renowned St Martin-In-The-Fields, Southwark Cathedral, Cambridge Town Hall, and Edinburgh Festival where she has received critical acclaim for her “mature, assured performance of elegance and power.” After completing her studies in New Zealand and Germany, she was an invited pianist at numerous distinguished music festivals across the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy. Her performances with orchestras such as the Wellington City Orchestra, the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, and the Neues Telemann Kammerorchester have established her as a soloist with the ability to captivate audiences.
Beyond her performance career, Beth is deeply committed to the education of future generations of pianists. As an Artist Teacher at the New Zealand School of Music, Victoria University and an active member of the Institute of Registered Music Teachers New Zealand, Beth leads masterclasses and coaches aspiring musicians in music programs, fostering their development through teaching and mentorship.
